This major project involved laying a culvert and overlying access road on one of the busiest roads connecting England and Scotland.
This was the first under-sea coal mine in Britain, but its iconic pit head building at Whitehaven had fallen into disrepair. Using a combination of stone support techniques, reinforced concrete and gabion baskets R H Irving Construction Ltd were able to protect the structure from further erosion by the sea and preserve this historical monument for future generations.
R H Irving Construction Ltd has worked for a number of major house builders over more than thirty years, carrying out works to provide road infrastructure, sewers and drainage as well as plotworks.
