We are now recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor
Due to an increased workload, our commercial team we are now recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor.
This will be a varied role within a small but busy team. The role is likely to evolve over time due to the changing needs of the business. The suitable applicant must have the key attributes listed below;
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Measure for, prepare and submit detailed interim valuations and final accounts/sub-contracts
- Full responsibility for own projects
- Exercise cost control of projects
- Ensure financial recovery of contractual entitlements
- Analysis, evaluation and negotiation of quotations/tenders from sub-contractors ensuring best value
- Prepare and manage detailed project budgets
- Collation of all reconciliations of costs and reporting of monthly cost reports
- Read and understand contract & project documents
- Deal with variations efficiently
- Work effectively with other staff, teams and departments to deliver client satisfaction
- Liaise regularly and effectively with clients’ key staff at all levels
- Take reasonable and efficient steps to ensure timely payments in line with the programmed schedule
- To attend, contribute to and lead meetings as required
- To work in accordance with all company policies, processes and procedures
- Ensuring confidentiality and commercial sensitivity
- Prepare enquiries and obtain quotes from sub-contractors/suppliers
- Price preliminary elements and include Health and safety compliance
- Undertake cost amendments in a timely manner
- Undertake site surveys, attend site meetings with clients, architects and sub-contractors as appropriate, individually or in conjunction with senior management
- Procure materials and services, efficiently and competitively as required
- Manage contract documents and CDM documentation
- Write detailed specifications when required
- Prepare valuations, invoices, records of dayworks
Person Specification:
- Substantial previous experience in Quantity Surveying within a relevant business environment
- A valid CSCS card
- Membership of a relevant professional body and/or relevant professional qualification, such as RICS/CIOB/RIBA/ICE/CIBSE
- Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contract
- Significant knowledge of construction techniques on particular projects
- Strong Commercial awareness
- Degree or other relevant qualification
- Operational experience/knowledge in construction industry
- High level of site awareness
- Company policies, processes, procedures and the Quality Assurance system
- Health and Safety law and practice
- Appropriate IT skills including the use of company software packages
- High level Communication & Negotiation skills
- Information management skills
- A clear aptitude to working autonomously and the ability to drive things forward without being prompted
- Being a good communicator, both verbally and in writing, is essential to this role
- Strong influencing, negotiation and management skills
- An ability to adapt and work to tight timescales whilst maintaining attention to detail.
The remuneration package will be negotiable depending on experience.
