We are pleased to announce that R H Irving Construction Ltd has been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award.
The Longtown-based firm are the only Cumbrian company to be in the running for SME of the Year at the 2016 North West Regional Construction Awards.
They will be up against companies from Merseyside and Manchester when the winners are announced at a ceremony in Liverpool on June 30. If successful, they will go forward to the National Awards in London in autumn 2016, where they will compete with award-winners from each English region and from Wales.
Founded in 1975, R H Irving Construction Ltd has evolved from a one-man operation working on a runway at Manchester Airport into a 75-strong workforce with a record turnover in 2015 of £13.4 million. Today the firm works in conjunction with major house builders and developers such as Story Homes, Persimmons, and the Lovell Partnership, and has diversified into its own construction projects, including Houghton Hall Garden Centre in Carlisle.
Managing director Hylton Irving said: “We’re delighted to be shortlisted for this award, especially considering the high calibre of the field. This recognition is testament to the quality of the people who work here and all the hard work and expertise they put into the business.”
Professor Peter McDermott, chair of the judging panel, and Constructing Excellence in the North West, said: “These awards are pan-industry, cross-disciplinary and recognise more than the great projects delivered. “All of the award categories are designed to find, reward and celebrate the best people and firms. The judges are looking for the people and firms who are demonstrating how collaboration and innovation are characteristics of the North West region; who act as encouragement to investors and policy makers that the potential for a “construction power-house” already exists – and who are delivering both economic, environmental and social value to our region.”
